About Us
Plant-based Caribbean and Louisiana Creole Cuisine, Inspired by Our Ancestors.
Welcome to Yamz Ital Kitchen. Ancestor Approved Plant-Based Caribbean and Louisiana Creole Cuisine.
Yamz Ital Kitchen is more than just food, it’s a movement. It’s about going back to our roots, getting healthier, and making our community stronger. I’m Matthew “Pure” Bradley, the chef behind Yamz Ital Kitchen, and this journey is very special to me. I created this to honor my ancestors and keep their cooking traditions alive for future generations.
Growing up, I saw how food brought us together, but I also saw how unhealthy eating hurt our community. At Yamz Ital Kitchen, we’re committed to showing our community how to cook healthier meals without giving up the flavors we love. The name “Yamz” comes from the yam, a food that’s important in our culture, and my daughter Yemayá’s nickname. It reminds me why this work is so important, for our children and the generations to come.
“Ital” comes from the Rastafari Movement and means “vital.” The “I” stands for being connected to nature and each other. Ital food is natural, clean, and Earth-based, boosting life energy, or “Livity,” in us all. That’s the energy we put into every recipe and lesson we share with our community.
This is bigger than just food. It’s about learning from our past, cherishing today, and building a healthier future together. Yamz Ital Kitchen is part of Jamii Market, so every purchase helps support Indigenous communities locally and globally.
We’re here to inspire and teach families to live healthier lives while enjoying the flavors that connect us to our culture. Join us in this mission to serve, uplift, and create a legacy of health, culture, and community.
