Yamz Ital Kitchen is a cultural movement with a mission to teach our community to prepare healthier meals without giving up the flavors they love.
Yamz Ital Kitchen is a cultural movement started by Culinary Alchemist Matthew “Pure” Bradley. It’s about returning to our roots, honoring our ancestors, and preserving their cooking traditions to build a healthier, stronger community for future generations.
Food brings us together, but unhealthy eating is hurting our community. At Yamz Ital Kitchen, we’re committed to showing our community how to cook healthier meals without giving up the flavors we love.
The name “Yamz” comes from the yam, a food that’s important in our culture, and Chef Matthew’s daughter Yemayá’s nickname.
“Ital” comes from the Rastafari Movement and means “vital.” The “I” stands for being connected to nature and each other. Ital food is natural, clean, and Earth-based, boosting life energy, or “Livity,” in us all. That’s the energy we put into every recipe and lesson we share with our community.
This is bigger than just food. It’s about learning from our past, cherishing today, and building a healthier future together. Yamz Ital Kitchen is part of Jamii Market, so every purchase helps support Indigenous communities locally and globally.
We’re here to inspire and teach families to live healthier lives while enjoying the flavors that connect us to our culture. Join us in this mission to serve, uplift, and create a legacy of health, culture, and community.
“Words are sweet, but they never take the place of food.”
